CRAC / CRAH Unit Ductwork — Precision Air Paths for White Space Cooling

CRAC and CRAH units live or die on their air paths — a computer room air conditioner can only reject the heat that actually reaches its coil. We fabricate CRAC and CRAH connection ductwork in galvanised steel to DW144 for data centre new builds, fit-outs and upgrades: unit transitions, supply and return plenums, and the distribution duct between units and the space they cool.

What we fabricate for CRAC / CRAH installations

  • Discharge transitions and plenums from unit outlets
  • Return air ductwork from ceiling voids, hot aisles or ducted returns
  • Rectangular distribution duct and fittings between units and the white space
  • Blanking sections, end caps and access provisions to the specification

Why the air path deserves the same attention as the unit

Data centre cooling is specified to fine margins: pressure drop steals fan capacity, leakage short-circuits conditioned air, and turbulence at badly made transitions shows up as uneven room temperatures. Made-to-measure transitions and sealed duct protect the performance the M&E design promised. For the wider package — fresh air, plant rooms, ancillary spaces — see our data centre ductwork page.

Built for how data centre projects run

Phased handovers, strict site rules, zero tolerance for delays at commissioning. Because we fabricate in-house, we hold to phased delivery schedules and respond quickly when unit positions move. Price a CRAC/CRAH package or call 07710 984 957.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between CRAC and CRAH ductwork?

CRAC units cool with integral refrigeration; CRAH units use chilled water coils — but from the ductwork's point of view the job is the same: connect the unit's supply and return openings to the room's air distribution efficiently and tightly. We fabricate to either unit type's openings and layout.

Can you match ductwork to our specific CRAC/CRAH units?

Yes — we work from the unit drawings or datasheets and fabricate transitions and plenums to the actual opening sizes and positions, for any manufacturer.

Can you deliver in phases to suit our commissioning programme?

Yes. Data centre packages are typically fabricated and delivered hall-by-hall or phase-by-phase to match the fit-out and commissioning sequence — tell us the programme and we'll plan fabrication around it.

Do you also supply the general ventilation ductwork for data centres?

Yes — fresh air systems, plant room ventilation and ancillary space extract are covered on our data centre ductwork page. Many clients combine CRAC/CRAH connections and general ventilation into a single package from us.
