Ductwork Lead Times: How to Plan Your Order
Made-to-order ductwork is fabricated for your project, not picked from a shelf. Here's how lead times work and how to plan orders so the duct is always on site before the installers are.
What drives the lead time
Quantity and mix (straights are fast, complex fittings take longer), duct sizes, specials such as acoustic-lined plenums and fire-rated sections, and current workshop load.
Order in installation sequence
Split large projects into phased orders that match the installation sequence — risers and main runs first, then branch and grille-level duct as each area's coordination is signed off. Phasing also protects you from design change.
Measure once coordination is real
Hold dimension-critical sections back until site dimensions are confirmed, and let the bulk of the run go into fabrication early.
Delivery and site readiness
Every section leaves our Knebworth workshop sealed and film-protected. Plan deliveries to arrive just ahead of installation, use our delivery calculator to price drops by postcode, or collect from the workshop.
